"Kellen was an incredibly skilled individual and a true asset to our program. He just loved being out there with people and was a natural teacher. I thought the world of him. He was truly an all around good guy – kind, funny and smart. "
Chris Read, Program Director for the Adaptive Sports Center
The Adaptive Sports Center fondly remembers one of our own, Kellen Sams - a great outdoor spirit, a teacher, a friend and always an adventurer. The world lost Kellen on Thursday February 11, 2010 when he was caught in an avalanche backcountry skiing. He will be dearly missed and always remembered at the Adaptive Sports Center.
Please send us your ASC memories of Kellen, as it is his smile, laughter and ability light up a room that will be forever remembered.
Kellen’s family and friends have established a fund to provide technical and safety training for Adaptive Sports Center staff. Contributions in Kellen’s name will be used to provide training and certification course tuitions to instructors, guides, and interns to expand their capabilities in providing outdoor recreation services to individuals with disabilities.
Please join us in promoting and supporting the activities Kellen truly loved. His legacy and his dedication to teaching others will be extended through any contribution that you choose to make.
